GIHEKE TSS organised its first Internal Innovation and Coding Hackathon, bringing together forty students from the Software Development, Networking and Internet Technologies, Computer Systems and Architecture, and Electronics and Telecommunication programmes.
Working in teams, students spent the weekend building working prototypes to solve challenges identified in the local community, from a battery-monitoring system for the electricity workshop to a digital attendance tracker for the school office.
A panel of teachers and invited IT professionals judged the projects on practicality, teamwork, and technical quality. The winning team received an internship placement with a partner company.
"This is how we build problem solvers," said one of the judges. "The ideas were simple, useful, and built to work in the real world."
