A team of twelve students from GIHEKE TSS competed at the National TVET Skills Competition, winning honours in electrical installations, electronics troubleshooting, and ICT project presentation.
In the ICT category, the software development team presented FarmUkwaba, an SMS-based platform that connects smallholder farmers in Western Province with local market prices and extension advice. The judges awarded the project first place for its practicality and impact.
"We trained for three months in the workshops and the lab," said the team captain. "Our teachers pushed us to master every step of the work — from reading circuit diagrams to writing clean code."
The event, organised by the Rwanda TVET Board, brought together more than 200 students from 35 technical schools nationwide.
